my booster has carked iand im wondering if is it possible to replace the brake booster in an EF without having to take the master cyl out first? dont want to have to bleed the brakes...

yeah should unbolt and move far enough to get out the booster just be careful to not bend the lines.

Why not bleed your brakes at the same time? Get rid of all the crud in the calipers and put some fresh fluid in. Does wonders. Only adds another 30 odd minutes to the exercise, and can quite easily be done by one person.

i dont do that because when i used to it years ago on my crappy datsun and corolla i ended up having to replace the master cylinder.....when the piston moves back and forth the full distance it used to damage the seals due to corrosion inside the master cyl
im a strong believer in if its not broke dont fix it

im a strong believer in if its not broke dont fix it I use a vacuum bleeder to bleed brakes, no pumping required. If the M/cyl sh!ts itself from pumping, then it wasn't far from needing replacing then, eh???

im a strong believer in if its not broke dont fix it you don't have to push the pedal all the way to the floor to bleed it. just short stroke it about the same distance you do when braking and you don't cause any damage |

fixed it...but now car has other problems...anyway, it wasnt all that fun under the dash and also my car has lpg and cruise so i had to move those out of the way..
took about 1/2 an hour forgot how powerful the brakes were with the booster, been driving without assistance for a week and now i cant brake smoothly anymore
