No you have to go bigger so I found out when I had my new motor built.

Nope, 250/4.0 are different (metric vs imperial)
As said, there is no bolts that fit the rods. You need to get the rods machined to take the next largest size imperial size that ARP make.

yep, understand that part.. what is the next largest imperial size that ARP stock.. someone has had to have done it?
EDIT: what are the specs of the stock bolts, I will go do my own research |

Im guessing, but I would say 3/8, as your current ones would be 5/16 metric equivelant of 8mm - about 8 thou, and you wont get the bolt to bite the rod if 5/16 are installed due to them being 0.008" smaller. Installing 3/8 will reduce your rod wall thickness though, and may be a tradeoff in itself. A set of carefully blueprinted std rods with new rod bolts (8mm ford jobbies) and torqued via overall length measurement will yield a pretty bullet proof rod

havent had a propper dyno but I know it will light up in first and second with out a problem and my daughter has beaten V8s and has enough toque to be able to move from a standing start in third. At the last dyno day it was only 135kw but the motor is better now than it was then as it only had 3000km after the rebuild.
As jaysen pointed out if you go bigger it might weeken them but if you want stronger then buy some Phat rods and pay 900 to 1000 for them then you will get a better bolt and rod.

I remember reading somewhere that you can use 4g63 Mito ARP bolts in 4L rods. Slightly larger than STD. Just have to buy 2 sets of bolts to do a motor.

the 4g63 bolts are the common concensus as the closest off the shelf arp bolt... although this has been discussed many times, i have never seen 100% proof that this is true or that it works.. the rods need to be drilled out accordingly

I did them myself. They are brand new AUII conrods, and I beam polished them and relieved them around the rod bolt lands.
