HI all. I've got a problem with my EBII Fairmont.
I had the alternator replaced about 18 months ago. The (old) battery died 2 months ago so was replaced with a brand new one.
Car was fine, voltmeter showed correct charge while driving........but........when I went to start the car 2 days later, the new battery was flat as!
Has anybody got any idea why the battery flattened itself when everything was turned off.......and no, I didn't leave the lights on so it's not that.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
Thanks

no idea here
but what you can do is once the battery is charged
put it back in the car and turn everything off etc, then get a multi meter and see if there is any drain from teh battery

you could have an open circut somewhere
or maybe your alt has died :(
or even the battery could have shat itself

I've had a battery die while I was driving along and stall the car with no restart.. RAC guy said it was an open cell I think.

Thanks for your replies, but the battery is brand new.....and the alternator showed the correct charge when I was driving.
I'm hoping it's gonna be something really simple, but the way things are going it's likely to be something that'll cost an arm and a leg :(

Just scared me a bit when the car died while driving and wouldn't restart, it seemed like a flat battery but I wouldn't have thought the car would stop while running, I would have expected it to just not start next time I tried it lol.

when mine went i didnt even have dash lights, went from driving at 100km to nothing so i had no idea what was going on cos at that stage i didnt think a new battery could just die like that so i was checking every thing but the battery.

best bet would be to charge the battery and go get it tested by a battery place to see if its holding charge
