Hey,
A few people have told me its simple to change the colour of the display on the ED Trip computer (I saw a pic of an EF clock that lit up green somewhere here, and think it looks cool) Anyways - I just pulled apart my trip computer, and have no idea where to put the coloured paper that someone told me about.. I have some pics of the trip computer pulled apart... can someone tell me where it goes??

Alright lets have a go.
Firstly it was my EF Trip Computer that is green and I glad you like it XR8. I think it looks cool. Secondly I have an EF and never done work on an ED so this is jsut educated guesswork. Ok from your pics it seems you got the electronics off. In an EF the rest should just slide out. Obviously the filter paper is going to be directly behind the LCD screen as to illuminate it, so poke around there see what is loose and waht can come out. Then once the fiter paper is out and it your hand use it as a template onto the paper to go in. I just used Post It paper and cut ti out, stuck it in, reassembled it and plugged it back in and hey presto it worked. Hope that helps. |

XR8chick,
if you check my website, go to the "my ride" page, and then the trip computer one, youll see how i did my tripcomp mod, in the first 5 or so photo's youll see the back of the LCD (minus the light guides in the pic) the white thing (filter) is what you want to remove, you cant slide it out and have to break it to get it out from there (use a flat object between it and the LCD, once its out, just slide your new coloured filter in, try and use a translucent plastic, as paper seems to look blotchy (hence the reason why i went to such troubles)

Hey while on the subject of changing light colours. Im trying to find some red light globes to replace the courtesy lights in the front of my ED.
I cant seem to find any coated red anywhere, I have found caps for them, but they are a s**t colour. Is there any where to buy these? Or alternativly colour them myself without too much effort and the looking to dodgy. Cheers

yeah you should jus colour them, the paints is at bunning for glass tinting. Wouldn't go red but as it looks pink when it lights up.
I think the paint is about $10 Cheers |

There's been a couple of threads about globes and neons in this section recently, you guys need to run through the search facility and read the topics.
Maybe one of the mods can make a sticky on globes and neons and filters for this section?
