have finished ef into ea conversion and it turns over sweet but cant hear fuel pump prime allso the fuel gauge goes all the way to full an then drops to empty.
Can someone tell me in english how to check for power from fuse to pump I have got a voltage tester but no clue how to use it or what to set it on please help cheers mike

Set the multi to 20V or what is above 12V on your tester (they are all different). Find the fuse or wires you want to test (start as close as possible to the battery). With the key off, so in theory no power running through the circuit plug the red (+ve) lead into one of the plugs/wires and touch the black (-ve) lead to a ground, which maybe the negative terminal on the battery or the engine block or a clean bolt on the body of the car. You should read 0V or very close. Swap the +ve lead to the other wire/side of the plug. If both read 0V then that is a good start. Now turn the key on and repeat the test. One wire should read 12V or so the other 0V (because it is the ground). Now remember the colours and keep testing the wire that read 12V closer and closer to the component that isn't working (ie at every junction or connection you can access).
You start close to the battery to eliminate all possibilities. It could be a fuse, the relay, a cut or rubbed through wire, etc. This will eliminate all possibilities. cheers Scott

Just wanted to clarify that on your initial key off test if you test too close to the battery, ie before the relay that powers the device then you are obviously going to get a 12V reading even with the key off. If you don't then that means that the wire feeding to the relay is cut or shorted and that is the reason your component is not working.
