hey guys,

hoping someone can help me out. i have had some pinging happening and had my car diagnosed as crank angle sensor and knock sensor failed. had the crank angle sensor sorted out with a major service to compliment butthe knocking has gotten worse and i have looked everywhere for a knock sensor.

Apparently they are obsolete thru ford, repco, auto one etc. does anyone know if there is a aftermarket version made that is still available or what i can do. i dont know what it looks like or how to find and fit it.

any help at all please??

cheers

My car had a pinging problem and it turned out I had a set of dud spark plug leads. Changed the leads and put in NGK XR6 (colder) spark plugs and problem fixed.

Might be worth testing your leads for resistance with a multimeter.

Can't guarantee this will fix your problem, but worth checking - and cheap.

Mild mods like compression increases, extractors & air intakes can also cause pinging or make it worse.
