just crawled under the front of my xr8 and it has a alloy cross member on it why did they use a alloy instead of a steel 1 any info peps

what model XR8? i'd say its for a better strenth to weight ratio

no idea why they used a alloy one

all AU's and BA's use a Alooy engine crossmember even the GT's
they are very strong and thick in the casting but weigh f**k all.
i have only seen a couple of broken ones in BIG accidents. but a steel on will rip the bolts out in a bingle anyway.

cool now i know i put the air con pump in tonight Darren the old 1 had no bearings left get it regased tomorrow back to being nice and cool again
