Hi guys,
first post but have been reading for a while... great forums I was wondering if any of you guys might be able to tell me what I have done I have just finished adding Climate Control to my EF XR6, which I obtained from a EL Fairmont Ghia. Not feeling much like running a dozen wires, I took the easier way around the modification and also grabbed the dash loom and BEM (High Series EL) from the Fairmont. All seemed to go fairly well, installation, re-learning the BEM, and all checked out ok. Feeling quite pleased with the way it all went, I went for a drive to check it out properly. All was well for about an hour (around 75Kms from home) then all of a sudden my Tacho died, and on came the low oil and high temperature warning lights. Although the guages were reading fine, the warning tell tales on the guages just stayed on. The oil pressure and temp was fine, so the guages were right. Of course they have been on ever since, and I can't get them to go off or the tacho work again. I can't find aything obvious, but am assuming that the 3 things are linked as it all happened together. Any ideas guys? Mark |

firstly i would try another cluster suspecting thats whats at fault, as the warning lights are internally controlled and the tacho is one wire.
that or a grounding problem.

I was thinking of giving that a go mate... I have a spare cluster here out of an EF GLi... no oil pressure guage I know... but if I can get the tacho and temp warning light to behave then maybe I can get mine fixed.
My main concern that maybe there was a difference between the EF and EL series clusters... something that caused the EF XR cluster to blow. Cheers Mark |
