Whats the deal with tightening up the linkages on a sloppy gearstick. Only ever done my 4wd Evo 3 and front wheel drives. Can it be adjusted from inside the car or underneath?

Adjust what linkage? The linkages are inside the box, its just handle attached to a shifter that slots into a linkage inside the box.
Nothing to tighten except the handle to the shifter, and the shifter onto the box AFAIK? A mate of mines AU XR6 manual got a sloppy shift, there is a bush that goes from the shifter to the actual linkage that can wear out. Have to pull the console out, undo the trans mounts a bit and lower the transmission, undo the 4 bolts holding the shifter on, pull shifter out, and youll see where the bush goes, where the ball of the shifter sits in the linkage. Thats what I would suggest it could be.

another thing that wears out is the rubber piece, between the shifter nadle and the gearbox shifter bit (techie speak).

Sounds like fun. Never did a rwd box hence the question. Makes sense, was just hoping it was easy like the fwd. Thanks

Out of interest, how did you go about fixing the gearstick in the fwd?
My G/F has an N14 pulsar and the gearstick is very sloppy. I've been meaning to fix it for a while now, if I can get the info I need then I'll have no more reason to put it off. Cheers,
