ive been told that if the pedals shudder under braking its the back, but if the steering wheel shudders its the fronts, and yeh 2 options are machining or new ones and from memory machining was cheaper

machining is like $25 disc and iwould put trw or lucus pads they rock best pads i ever put in my car

if you suspect the rears to be warped take the rear wheel of and see if they are discoloured or rainbowed

other wise get some decent brake pads ask your local automotive place and they should tell you (or have no idea as they are 16 yr old d**k)

i had the same problem the whole car was shuttering plus the steering wheel i replaced the calipers (pistons rusted and couldnt lightle sand back) and the rotors and it fixed the problem

With brake shudder on the front it can also be caused by incorrect wheel bearing adjustment (under torqued)
