Make sure the clutch is adjusted properly. Did you replace the clutch cable??? If the clutch is over adjusted, it puts a lot of strain on the firewall and pedal box.

If the clutch is adjusted OK, you can grab the clutch cable outer under the bonnet and pull it away from the firewall so that the adjusting nut is about 1/4" to 3/8" from the spigot in the firewall.
My 88EA has never had the firewall welded/repaired and neither has the pedal box. I have however rerouted the clutch cable to make it smoother in operation.

You may notice that it is not on the steering rack side like they are from factory.

i have the same problems with my clutch. I purposely bought a regular pressure plate as I didnt want to have these cracking problems. However my exedy standard clutch is very hard to press. the hardest i've ever driven. my old factory xr6 hd clutch was heaps lighter.
sometimes I wish that I had left the old one in there to save my pedal box/flywheel/left leg!

hi
after fitting a hd velor clutch i have a similar problem.. my firewall has been repaired and my pedal box has been repaired and re enforced.. the problem i got is the whole firewall on the drivers side flexes and i can see the brake booster moving when i get someone to push the clutch in.. my clutch cable is about 12 months old and it runs through the factory route.. so cjh would you be nice enough to show us how you routed your cable? |

On the XD's, XE's etc, the solution to this problem was to use the V8 Hydraulic Clutch Pedal and Master Cylinder, and run a Hydraulic Bellhousing from the XC 6's.
Now I know the BA uses a Hydraulic Clutch - is that an option? - youd problably have to use the Automatic Pedal Box (or one from an X series?) but it'd be worth the fun.... |

mine went in the firewall and all we did was cut another firewall off another car in a big section and weld it over the top no more flex or movement. cut it in a c section to slide under the booster
