Hey guys ive got a bit of a sticky situation, i have an EF XR6 and its auto (unfortunatley) :P it is playing up recently and seems to lack heaps of power sometimes, and other times it goes like s*** off a shovel. then something even stranger has started happening if i change gears manually it doesnt go to the selected gear all the time, i could have it in first and itll change up a gear at 3000rpm in sport or econ mode. it isnt a consistant problem and it happens randomly so any help would be appreciated, thanks guys.

Hi, my gearbox (V8 ef) did the same thing, got worse and worse, then the battery failed, replaced battery and it fixed the gearbox!! Get your battery load tested by a good battery shop, bet it's down on one cell.
As for the weird power, mine was a faulty air flow sensor. Try making a led light setup and reading codes from ecu, sensor is expensive so you want to be sure it's stuffed b4 replacing it.

check the inhibitor switch on the side of the auto, or replace it, that will solve the problem with manually selecting gears, as for the power loss, hows the accelerator cable look? is it frayed?
