just want to know if anyone knows of a good setup for getting better traction out of a BA XT8 5 speed manual, if it is possible?

The car has so much potential but I can not get it down to the ground especially in the wet. I would not have a clue where to start when it comes to things like the suspension setup, diff setup or anything like that.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

Good grippy tyres, try and find a review for some that perform well in the wet :)

Decent springs, and shocks will help, along with new bushes, some decent tyres, and i would almost bet you wouldn't have an LSD?
That will help a lot.

I've spent $2k on tyres (245/35/19) alone and around $2k on my suspension (koni shocks, king springs, swaybar), and even with only 211rwkw i still cant get traction in 1st and 2nd (if i push it hard). But i must admit the tyres i've got are good. In the dry they really grip the road and handle great, in the wet they handle pretty much the same and i can rev it out to 5500 in 1st and 2nd without losing traction, so they really are worth the extra money.

My advice is stay away from cheap tyres, especially wanli :| If you want one of the best money can buy then i suggest Pirelli Dragons and a 3.7 LSD. In my quest for traction i'm going to be getting a 3.7 LSD and 9.5" on the rear with Dragons fitted on them, hopefully then i can get a bit of grip before the cam gets done :)

And if none of that helps then just stay off the loud pedal :)

suspension setup is the answer, my BA mk11 was that bad with traction that I was dumping the clutch at speeds over 90km/h & frying the 245/40/zr18's in 3rd gear.
After getting the A frame out I replaced ALL bushes some urethane, some OEM, then fitted some custom valved rear shocks, and lowered it quite a bit, resulting in a bit more traction, but still not enough without fitting about 285/30/20's.
One tip though ,dont get too soft tyres cos they tear across the tread resulting in tyre de-lamination & ripping the inner guards out, cutting fuel lines etc.

if thats done on "private property" then Im not here.

Theres double lines, so its a road with two way traffic sharing it, and the driver urgently says at the end "jump in, quick" as if VERY eager to get out of there.

I couldnt care two sh!ts if you did that out the middle of no where, just dont BS about it to apease the tree huggers. Good burnout! Love that V8 pig iron strum :)
