can anyone help me out with this on my na fairlane everytime i give it a good boot full when it changes up a gear it has like a cracking kind of sound coming from the rear passenger side and now and then it slams into gears what could be cousing this????

nasty dunno for sure but it sounds like a shifting solenoid problem i have the same boggle hence the reason i am converting to manual... solenoids can be quite expensive my s5 shift solenoid $580

ive been told by a teacher at tafe that u can replace the s5 with a solenoid from a vs auto, which is also adjustable and cheaper. i just wouldnt trust it unless sum1 had done it b4

noise could possibly be trailing arm bushes slappin around or trans mount,to my experience anyway,check them all
