Got the XR cam in today...took me less then 2 hours =D.

Idle is the same as before. A different exhaust note is noticeable and the revs move faster on the dial compared to previous standard cam.

Went for a test drive at various speeds to see how it goes. Granny driving seems to be smoother then previously and the engine seems to rev more freely. Going on the freeway...from 0 - 100 has improved quiet a lot. Mid and high end torque have improved...not by much, but still noticeable. Low down torque was a bit of an improvement, though I can't tell since car is manual and launches are never the same...

All in all...the car runs smoother, better response, revs move faster and of course, minimal noticeable power gain. Was worth the effort and learnt a bit more along the way.

Next is getting my XR motor, with a mild cam in it. Once all that is done, I will update this thread for those who want to hear the difference in Standard, XR and mild aftermarket cam.

phong =P~

After speaking to Wade about cams, I am under the impression
that the xr6 isnt much different to the standard falc. I therfore chose to regrind my xr cam to the 1673e and can strongly recomend it for a manual :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol: and i didn't change the springs

I had an XR cam just sitting in my garage which i was going to sell...so I thought I'd chuck it in my working engine for the fun of it :D

I'm putting together another engine with a mild cam which will definitely be better then the motor I got now.

This was more of an experiment which was good...now I know more about what I'm doing :D

Once i get the other motor up and running, I'll be sure that I will notice a huge difference between the XR and aftermarket cam...btw I am going Crow Cams
