My I6 has been idolig ruff, i just fixed a squeaking tenshion pully so have something else around there start squeaking(im thinking its the power steering) and there appeares to be oil comming from all around the rocker cover gasget but not the head gasket?? and its blowing a fair bit of smoke and making wiered hissing noises and the exhaust is making wiered rattling noises but its all on tight???
And how hard is it to go from a I6 to a V8 in a XG? Coz im thinking iv had enough and just go a new motor.

Great thing its not the head gasket! Thats expensive, the leak there might be causing a vacuum suction though the hole in the rocker cover gasket??? -Im no mehanic but that sounds logical enough to me and its blowing a fair bit of smoke and making wiered hissing noises rocker cover leak would cause that i would think exhaust is making wiered rattling noises but its all on tight??? Doubt that would have anything to do with the rocker cover gasket, mine does that (EL) backfired on gas and blew some part of the filter out a bit, rattles like crazy when it has just been started on a really old morning, not now though since its a bit warmer. Prob just on its way out, you might be able just to replace part of the exhaust, not the whole lot And how hard is it to go from a I6 to a V8 in a XG? Coz im thinking iv had enough and just go a new motor. Youve got to change more than just the motor, suspension to compensate for the heavier engine, different tranny? (can someone correct me there), maybe a different starter motor, search around on here for v8 conversions Hope that helped mate Matt

what colour smoke??
if its black chances are it could be as simple as a vacuum pipe come off. ie map sensor( on the firewall behind the intake manifold) or the guts may have dropped out of the pcv.(the thing with the hose on it on yhe front top of the rocker cover.) |
