Really? Just screws off and on hey? I tried going anti-clockwise, but was tight as, so was worried something would snap.
Better be right Mitchy boy, lol, I'll be back in one tick-a-roo.

jeep on turning it clockwise as u look at the hanbrake (i.e. top towards drivers door) and dont tighten the chrome button too much otherwise the handbrake wont release (my bad...)

Okay guys, been out there this morning with some chunky pliers, and still no go. I've been twisting, and reallllly trying to yank the fudger out, but nothing. Black button has been severely raped by the pliers in my attempts, lol.

Lol, okayyyy, I'll go again. Just hope the pliers don't slip off again and whack the dash and make another bloody mark in my black dash, lol.

Off now, but now I'm not sure how best to put the chrome button on now. Not sure how I'll get it down on the rod enough so that there's pressure on the spring to push the button and rod up, and engage the handbrake. Seeing as if I do push it down, it pushes the road down, and there's no more space to push the button on.
Can I remove the rod from the assemply and push the button on that way? Or is there an easier way? Thanks folks.

Get a long plastic golf tee, but the button in the handbrake, then put the golf tee on top of the button and use it like an extension to push the button in further, BE CAREFUL though, you done want to push that button too far or it will not come out. also use a quick spray of hairspray in their first, it will act as a lube until it dries and then act like a soft glue. (old trick for motorbike handgrips!)
