Hi All

Car - 89 EA Mpfi

I'm referring to the two narrow, vertical gaskets
on the left and right of the cover.

I bought some generic ACL paper/card ones.

I have just found out that the genuine Ford ones come
with a special adhesive / sealer already applied, which
probably helps keeps the gasket in position whilst attaching the cover.

My worry is if I apply silastic / rtv to the ACL ones,
and due to the narrowness of the gasket, they might
slip and slide out of position as the bolts are tightened.

Am I being paranoid or should I buy the Ford ones ???

Has anyone had problems with non Ford ones ???

Thanks

Use Form-a-gasket no.3 (non hardening)

Its the white bottle with a brush, smear it on the block, slap on the gasket, smear on the cover and put it together.

I bought a ford gasket for my car (el). I just but some oil which hold the gasket in place until i screwed the bolts in.
