Is the firewall burnt back to bare metal? on that side? would say so.

I don't remember, but looking at the photo's it looks like the insulation has burnt off both sides of the donk.

What was underneath the car? as in what dripped onto the ground? from the fire, or before hand? be traces of fuel i would reckon.

This I don't know.

I'll take a look at the cat to see if there are any scorch marks on it.

All this depends if the engine was running. Great insurance job either cut or punture the fuel line or loosen the regulator light it up turn on the ignition and that will pump the fuel until the power is cut by a short by then there is enough heat to stuff everything. I go with the cut fuel line as it would melt and no evidance. Investigator would look for loose bolts the unburt fuel will help ignite the insolation and also start the plastic inlet to spread the heat and keep the fire going.

The car could not have been to hot as the header tank when weekened would of uner presure put water in the direction of the heat one would think.

That is my opion.

Ahh a conspiracy theory, nice!
The car was for sale, maybe the guy had trouble selling it for the $$$ he wanted?

I'm doubtful but it's possible!
