As many know I and many others would love the prospect of boosting our N/A's however have stopped with the barrages of "feasibly impossible advice" - ie: weak N/A internals needing upgrades, Engine management nightmares etc.
However some1 has done it on the bseries forum quite succesfully and cheaply. Just drop in the turbo engine, use the turbo ECU, get ford to flash and link the ECU to your BEM. Then the only weak links to fix up are the dif and driveshaft. Auto can handle the stock power fine. You can always add all the turbo gear to your existing NA motor. Sure you wont be able to run alot of boost, but there's alot of us that have put 10 or 12psi ( 20psi in my case LOL ) into older Eseries motors without too many blowing up.
For the cost of a XR6t motor, you can have some nice aftermarket gear (injs, intercooler ect ) and run decent power on low boost. Whats the point in buying all the stock gear, when your only going to replace it down the track anyway. I say do it the way the EA-AU guys do it... its all bolt on's |

Its not like you wouldnt have to with an XR6T motor anyway.

Yeah exactly... once its up and getting good power you always start wanting more, so doing rods/pistons ect on the existing NA isnt a drama

Just out of interest, would it be a good choice to use the gt 35/40 like the xr6t's or something better. And compression would be a bit high in the n/a motors.

It depends on how much power you want. I think the Garrett GT35/40's are good for 390ish rwkw? T04Z are good for around 450rwkw? GT42R's are around 600rwkw i think. Autronic SM4's can handle VCT. No need to change ECU... use Edit.
I wouldnt bother with the xr6t turbo... the exhaust housing is too small to allow good boost control, not to mention the internal wastegate needs to be enlarged to help it control boost better. Just go for a decent sized GT40 type turbo and a 50mm external wastegate. Grab a used exhaust manifold, mod it to suit the external gate ( it has a T3 flange so that will need work ). 660cc injectors are so so cheap now, a big fmic, piping, intake and 4inch exhaust, walbro in the tank... With good tuning thats gonna be 300wkws on low boost and the motors higher comp will cope... easy and cheapish, but it all used and its cheaper |

Can't really use aftermarket ecu with the ba's anyway, the icc and crap wouldnt work.
That's no drama anyway, you can just get the turbo ecu and use that, does everything an aftermarket ecu would. |
