Doesn't sound like a lifter problem.
Did you measure for pushrod length after changing the cam? Whats your lifter preload?[/quote] I have tried pre-load at 10thou and now have preload set at 45thou and still same prob.

my 85 xf has just been service 800k on new motor it has ticking rocker (tappet) the block that did service told me to go on a very long drive and that the valve train need to bed in wear to suit he all so said that the lifter would come good in time he has done a lot of fords and all so did lifter in my old engine

if its just a ticking noise, its probably fine, if its a tapping or knocking noise theres a problem, I've found the std bolt on yella terra rockers to be noisy, regardless of how they are installed.

mine were fine with the stock cam....could be the increased angle from the extra lift.....oh well its goin fine just clattery at low revs

Yeah, it sounds like it could be the bolt on yella terra r.r.s . It was a bit rattly with standard cam and 1.72 r.r.s and is worse with 2031 cam and head work done also flash tuned and running a healthy 220rwkws.
After trialing diff preload settings, valve train geometry blah blah blah Not sure weather to try a set of adjustable r.r.s (different brand) or roller lifters.

what do you mean by this ?? does the bolt flex inside the pedestal or are you talkin about the bolt in adjustable rockers .....as mine are non adjustable and still do it

Fairy all i ment by the bolt is that they are the standard non adjustable bolton roller rokers nothing to do with any bolts, just the old bolt on pedistal roller rockers.

dude common mistake from ppl is they mistake a leaky exhaust flange (very common with dam windsors) with lifter noise try changing gaskets first before opening engine eay to tell just get a torch and look for sooty black powder marks around mainfolds

Ive changed gaskets for paceys and made sure no leaks this is not the cause of my prob, but i agree on your thoughts,check and double check exhaust manifold leaks before opening up engine
