Anyone know if there's much difference between a 1N5404 and 1N5408 diode? The wiring diagram says 1N5404, but a 1N5408 was supplied - I'm woundering if it's safe to use...
Also, on the wiring diagram, the symbol for a diode is a triangle and a line. Does the silver band stripe of the diode go on the same side as the line on the diagram is? Last edited by twr7cx on Mon Oct 15, 2007 6:58 pm, edited 2 times in total. |

Output end, that's where the line is on the diagram, the triangle points in the direction that the current flows. |

Turns out the difference is the 5408 is rated for 1000 volts while the 5404 only 600. So it's fine to use as everything else is the same.
