Hi,
My GF just brought a new car, it's 4yrs old and is in a sexy metalic black. It's got typical fine scatches here and there, but generally looks ok. Giving it a wash the other day, I noticed the paint felt quite rough, so I think it could use a good clay and buff, followed by some really good protection. I checked out this site here: http://www.paintprotectiondirect.com.au/index.html ... but turns out they dont have anyone in VIC, and best they could do is sell my a DIY kit. I'm happy to part with $1000 for a good job. Can anyone reccomend a good shop ? I'm looking for somewhere better than a "car wash" but it doesnt need a respray either. |

The DIY kit are from $168.00. why not give that a try.

IMO I'd prefer you to get your car done professionally once by the victorian master detailer that damian is and maintain the car yourself afterwards with glare
I've only used pro polish as a hand glaze and sealant on paint, glass and wheels and it sure does work great by hand on ford falcon exterior trims (lower ones) Please note: the majority of the lineup contain fillers that won't remove swirls, scratches etc. I believe only knockout will do that. I really don't like the towels and sponges they sell and pro polish certainly won't take marks out, it will just hide them and unless you use it as a sealant after applying as a polish, they will wash straight out and still may come out after several washes. That's why I don't use glare with a machine. you work it and think the marks are gone but a little alcohol and microfibre and they come straight back at you. I'm not saying glare pro polish is no good, it is terrific on trims, glass, metals, wheels etc but I use it on paint by hand after I have removed all the swirls etc to level the orange peel, add more wetness and depth and fill in any tiny marks that are too deep and apply three coats of it, leaving each coat on overnight so the fillers are locked in and the shine doesn't fade it will protect for up to a few years but I prefer to strip it off after one year and repolish. There is nothing wrong with abrasive polishes if used correctly and wisely. Here's what I recommend Let damian do the car with menzerna and whatever else he has. wash it with a top quality protective car shampoo and dry with waffle weave towels. Use a quick detailer to keep it looking and feeling great Twelve months later, clay and polish with glare and apply glare infinity for a year of protection and repeat cycle every year.

hey josh, I thought I saw one of the company cars at Phillip Island several weeks back when we were there for MG races.
I've known about protech for ages and seen the site What product brands do you use there - Menzerna etc? many so called pro shops are still using chamois which is not a smart idea. Anyways the main thing is for a top job to be done for this guy. as long as it's done right and the results last for 12 months or more, not this 4 weeks and it looks crap again detail shop type of work.
