G'day
Just wondering how many people are running an lpg turbo setup? I'm planning on running the following in my xf ute. Ct26 toyota turbo Standard log manifold modified to suit the turbo Ebay cooler ed intake setup (maybe, depends on the gas mixer) 225 mixer b2 convertor 3" exhaust Megasquirt with tfi dizzy Just standard motor. I'm hoping for a nice streetable motor with heaps of torque and around 160rwkw to tow my race bike around and get me to and from work each day. Who thinks what about this setup Cheers

Should work fine, if thats all your after.
Turbo is a tad small, the VG30 unit works on XF motors well for under 200wkws. Get stuck into it, lots of small issues will pop up over the build but nothing most poeple can't handle. post up your results champ. |

G'day
Its actually going on an 80,000kay old el hybrid motor from a nl fairlane. I'm all in the planning stage atm but over the next 2-3 months it should all come together nicely. I reckon i can do it 4 about 1000 bucks without hiccups. Hiccups will come and i'm all expecting them. What is the difference between a wastegate and b.o.v? I'm a little confused as to what i need to run. Cheers

Wastegate vents exhaust gases.
If you get a CT26 or a turbo from a VG30 then they will likely have an internal wastegate so you dont need to worry about it. |

You need the wastegate to regulate boost pressure, the turbo you plan to use already has an "internal wastegate" so thats something you dont need to buy.
BOV is what is used to vent off air pressure in the intercooler piping system, some poeple use them, some dont. For low boost and budget, you can get away with a basic bosche unit, as fitted standard to XR6T and other cars. |

Would i be correct in saying that the bosch type dont make a noise? Being an auto i think that it will be a bit wanky to have the pssssht noise anyway. So that will make the manifold a hole heap easier to make up then, just a simple j pipe and flange. Cheers

not saying it cant be done but i spent
200 at enzed for piping oil and coolant 150 just to put original battery in boot 100 on heat shielding (trust me your going to need it) 100 exhaust plumbed up to dump pipe thats 550 and still no turbo, cooler, cooler piping, tuning, boost gauge. not saying it cant be done but u get what u pay for and if that second hand turbo blows up then your up for a new motor.

Go anywhere but enzed for hoses, they are a total rip off!

G'day
One thing i probably shold mention is that half of the stuff i all ready have. I have heat wrap left over from other projects (should have enough for the job) Battery is all ready under the floor in the tray, got dual setup actually. Got another ms11 all ready built. Piping is easy and cheap when you know people You are right about the oil lines, they will not be cheap! I think 1000 bucks could only be done with a second hand turbo, i'm looking at a new turbo which will double the cost. Cheers

the drain line is cheap, just use 3/4 steel pipe and some 3/4 HT hose with clamps.
for the feed line it should only cost about 100$ if you use -3 braided, less for hydraulic line. heat shield you can just go to scrap metal place and pick up some offcuts of stainless steel sheet, and just make some shields with that, really only need to shield the brake system. |
