Ok EL broke the other day, simply cut out going around a corner and then no spark.
Here's what I've done. Courtesy lamp fuse ok checked for power to the coil (fine) checked for power to TFI module and crank test (fine) changed TFI module for new one just in case. Still no spark. Changed coil over and then suddenly spark. (cool) Start car idles for 15 seconds stalls. Guess what NO Spark again. Changed out distributor still no spark. Changed coil lead no spark! Has anyone got any ideas? How do I test the coil when out of the engine to see if it has failed?

Give it some volts and put your finger on the top and release the voltage from the negative terminal!

Sorry Krytox bit confused here...
Are you saying plug 12v into coil then place my finger on top and then ground out the negative side of the coil? Isn't that gonna hurt me some? Do I leave the power on whilst I release the voltage? Sorry... this thing has me cursing bad.

Wicksy only problem is that it's Straight LPG and the problem is NO SPARK - ... which sort of means fuel supply is not an issue at the moment.

Check your BEM / BCM, might be playing up. usaully if its faulty it stops the ECU from providing fuel or spark to da engine.

Well it kept me thinking for hours last night.
Finally I accepted the incredible possibility that the 2nd coil that I used (second hand known to be working) had somehow worked for 15 seconds and then failed terminally. Went and got another NEW coil and all is well again.

yer i was gonna say faulty coil, if that has had it it may pay to change all leads and plugs too and a overhaul of the dissy if you havent already

Sounds more like computer is faulty. Get a second hand ECU that you know works and try that.

The funny part is that it was suggested to me that it might be the TFI module or Hall Effect sensor and so I managed to pickup a dizzy that was virtually brand new from the wreckers and put that it in after getting it going.
It now seems to start a little easier and runs a little better. Didn't replace the leads or plugs as they've only done about 5K. I partly got mislead down this track because the man in the little yella van told missus that the coil was OK! How he came to that conclusion is anyone's guess because when I bench tested it showed only 3.4 ohm and then when I took the metal casing off it had a huge crack under that. Anyway all is good now. lee lee ECU is fine and I do have a second one for testing just in case. But you should always test things before assuming ECU's or BCM being the problem. Thanks for the input though.

I had this problem in one of my old cars and it turned out to be a blown fuse. Replaced coil leads etc but no luck.
