Hey guys ive got a Ba mk2 futura which suffers from engine noise through the stereo.

its a Pioneer DEH5650 head unit, with an alpine MDX600 amp running 2 subs, and also another pioneer 4ch amp running the front and rear speakers.

now the engine noise isnt always there, sometimes when i start the car cold in the morning there is no engine noise, however if i drive the car for a bit with the stereo loud the noise comes back. or if i start the car after its been off for a few hours but has been sitting in the sun or in warm temperatures the sound is there from the start even if you start it with cd player off and turn it on with low volume.

it was installed by my local autobarn and i would have thought they would have run the RCA cables on one side of the car and the amp wire on the other side of the car....

is that the cause?

would moving the rca's to the other side fix this? or should i get an engine noise filter?

do i just put it in the engine bay with the line from the battery int "in" then ground to the body somewhere and then out to the fuse then to the amps etc? or will that not work?

mate you can probably tune that out. most common cause is that your gains are set too high. check this by disconnecting the rca to the subs, turning the gains right down and cranking up the volume with a song that you know will outperform your system. turn the gains up until the speakers start to distort then turn it down until they are clear. disconnect the speaker rca and plug in the sub rca and do the same again. plug the speaker rca back in and see how it goes. usually this will help but if it doesn't you'll need to get some sort of noise supressor on your main power feed to tour head unit. hope this helps.

hmm yer that could be it, the amp never used to make this noise but autobarn tuned the amp once they installed it


and its only rear speakers doing it i think its not the subs


oh wait forgot to mention when a light goes on like when you brake or turn on headlights or indicators or something with volume down you hear it click sorta through the speakers...

i used to be able to hear my fan, indicators and everthing electric through mine. adjusted the gains and it all went away. hope thats all it is cos those adjustments are free

10cm of sticky tape fixed the problem hahaha


the RCA for rear out was too close to the power cable for the cig lighter


white rear RCA out on my head unit was the only one which was static but was that static it was so noticable.


re routed the RCA away from the cig lighter power and its all fixed now.
