Hi

I have finally got my first XR8 and am lovin it!! BA XR8 and it is my new love, the wife and kids haven`t seen me all weekend.

www.bseries.com.au/kiwiskidkid

I have ordered a CAI kit from the Fern Gully lads and expect it to make it over the ditch in a couple of days. In the meantime I have been searching the forums to see what the options are for the air filter. Almost everyone has gone for the BMC filter. Ford have quoted me $195 so I am thinking of picking one up tomorrow when I get my XR mats.

I am looking for you feedback on how good the BMC is, how much they generally cost, are there any other options beside the factory one. And any kiwis who read this and have one, where you got it from.

Thanks to all who reply
KSK

Get more grunt and a much better sound with a pod setup. These boss engines breath hard.

A few people have gone with a blue power or a G&D Airbox with a pod filter and stainless 3" tube, said to get about 20rwkw's.

And the BMC is sposed to be pretty good, they reckon about 13rwkw's.

When I get the cash im going to try the G&D airbox idea, think its about $650 with the tubing.

Just picked up and installed the BMC - WOW, either my factory one was rooted or these things are worth their weight in gold. I can say I have a very noticeable difference in power plus much more responsive on the throttle. Can not wait till the CAI arrives.

Just as a side note, these guys got back to me a little to late to confirm they had a filter for the XR8... wonder if anyone has heard of them or used them before?

Cheers

whats the best filter/CAI setup for an xr6 turbo?

on a XR6 turbo I would use the typhoon intake (behind headlamp)
and a BMC or K&N filter. Best bang for your buck.

simply cut a hole into your airbox for the intake or we can supply a lower aircleaner box with the intake

MilleniumFalcon i highly recommend the Blue Power cai with 3" induction pipe from Aussie Car Enhancements. That is the best value for money with the boss/3v, after putting it on a second intake and bmc filter doesnt even come close to what it offers and will leave you with a big grin while driving :)
