I have searched to no avail.
Just wondering, are the stock Falcon cats 2.25 inch? And if so, how do you connect them to 2.5 inch extractors / catback?

If you are going extractors, then it would be much better to go the straight through cat route. The stock items are very restrictive.

I suggest get a early commodore one like a vn vp, they are 3.8 and the ford is 4.0 so not much difference..... i got some genie extractors fitted and the exhaust bloke was going to modifiy my cat but the cat was rooted so i had only one option to get another cat he told me to if i could get a straight through cat found one at work off a VN he busted the cover and he f**k around and fitted it.. Or u could get an new aftermarket cat installed

How exactly do you widen the cat pipe to 2.5 inch?

Widening the CAT pipe??? The length of the funnel into it is the key.
A new CAT has no more restriction than if it wasn't there. But, a CAT that has had an engine blowing crap into it, like coolant, unburnt fuel ( from a constant miss ), excessive oil consumption, and not giving it some herbs (to give it a blast), will deteriorate the the flow rate of the CAT.

You will need to get a 2.5" pipe and just stick it on the end of the 2.25" pipe of the cat. That's the only way you are going to get a 2.5" pipe coming out, unless you intend on cutting the piping as far back as possible until you find yourself a 2.5" hole and weld in the 2.5" pipe. That's the only way I understood of doing it...in the end I just got a new 2.5" cat cause mine was up s**t creek. phong =P~

yeah, have it gutted- u wont regret it.. I did. Just dont drive like a wank, or the pigs will tag you- then the rta will test you then ya screwed. but it will flow much, much better although I have been told a good high flow cat is not much diff.

Thanks for the replies. However, I am not interested in gutting it, I just was curious about how to modify it to suit the extractors. But I think I will just go a high flow.
Cheers.

b/s**t. the standard cat is quite acceptable. a bit of pressure restriction can keep flow up by increasing flow speed. its been proven before (without being able to link to, many appologies) that a 2.25 stocker has virtually no diff from a 2.5 in hi- flow cat. the stocker produces better torque low down due to better compresion. Bigger is not always better. whereas the 2.5 might flow volume by CFM the 2.25 flows more in cfm/minute. this is due to a small compression zone that increases gas velocity after cat back. this nonsense about hi flow cats is a scam and should be treated a such.

Just curious?
