hey all
the eb has done the old headgasket trick!!!! decided to save some cash and remove the head myself, the only prob is 3 of the head bolts are severly frozen and wont move wat so ever!!! tried impact gun, whacked them with a hammer, about 3 or 4 cans of wd40, penetrating oil, jimmy bar and jus brute force!!!! any ideas

Do you have 6 sided sockets? I was going to take the head from my donor car (wasn't exactly imperative that I had the head.....but anyways), ended up rounding a head bolt.......so decided rocker gear/cam was good enough takings. The other bolts came out with a tap on the head with a hammer, and some force.
Just yea, thaught I'd add the importance of 6 sided sockets, saves headaches.

6 sided hey.... will give it a whirl. also heard heat helps 2... how would u go bout that u reckon???
what bout if i end up R**Ting the bolt heads completely?? was thinkin easy outs, reckon that would work or would i jus end up snapping s**t

I wouldn't be too worried about it ay, I snapped a flywheel bolt, flush with the crank.......that was removed by a laser removal thingo while I was at work. The reason behind the 6 sided ones, as opposed to the 12 sided or so (never counted) sidchrome ones I was using (fantastic sockets, but not really cut out for stubborn bolts), you will have a hard time rounding the bolts off. Make sure the socket stays level and right on the bolt too.

I used a round socket and nearly rounded the bolt. get a hexagonal impact socket, use a breaker bar and just keep pushing your weight into it with a rocking motion.

try a length of pipe over a breaker bar
up to 1m long pipe will give you heaps more turning power good luck!

Definatly use a single hex socket.
And try some Loctite Freeze. You spay it on. |

i had the same problem.. use a single hex impact socket piece on a big breaker bar and if you still have trouble put a piece of pipe over the breaker bar to effectively make it longer..
