250 x flow and pre xflow both came out with C4s on some models apart from the usual borgwarner 35 and 40 to see if you have a 250 C4 just line her up and see if she fits, if not find yourself a C4 and a bellhousing to fit, its a great transmission behind a 250.

You will find them in XD's and earlier. Police pack and Taxi pack XD's had them.

you will find you can bolt any of the C4,C8,C9 & C10 boxes up to a 6 cyl. if you have the 6 cyl. bell housing. as the C10 has a different way of mounting the bellhousing to the case Just make sure you get longer pump bolts to bolt the C10 box up to the six bell housing.

If I remember, the C10F was a Ford Aust. replacement for the FMX box, cos it was cheaper to fit a brand new C10F than to repair an FMX.
Never heard of a C8 or C9, but have heard of a C5 ( found in Bronco's ) and C6's.

Well C8 & C9 are basically the same as a C4! C4's first came out in the XT ford era, C8's are around XW, C9's have a bigger input shaft (more splines) different Front pump, filler tube in the sump, breather on the extension housing, selector linkages are different, anyway this is the transmission that came out behind V8's & 6cyl. motors from XY/XD. C10's are behind the later Cleveland motors and have a Bell housing that doesn't bolt up to the pump but to the case itself. If need be this can be bolted up behind a 6 cyl. bell housing or even one of the earlier V8's if you get the longer front pump bolts from a earlier box. A c5 is basically a C9 transmission with a different Valve body and has a deeper sump. Most of this is correct if I can remember correctly, just I am dealing with most of the modern day 4/5/6 speed transmissions now and there is only so much info a person can remember from back a fair few years ago. :P .

The only problem with the C10 is that you will have to get a 6 cyl. convertor out of a C9 box naturally. :D If I remember correctly the convertors for the other types of transmission will fit inside the bell housing. :?: The safest and easiest way is to try and get a genuine C9 to suit the six (there should be plenty still kicking around) this way you get all the parts that you will need to convert to the C9.
