I've got a question regarding the door locks on my ED. They look like they have been fourced with a screwdriver or similar at some stage although the locks still work properly......Or maybe they have some sort of cover on the outside of the lock or something like that.
Wondering if they can be fixed or not? Or would I need new door locks? Here's a couple of pics to give you an idea of what the locks are currently like....

cheaper to replace than get fixed dude, find someone parting a EB/ED and buy all 4 locks off of him with keys.

The door locks and boot lock are simple to replace, Just wondering if there is anything tricky involved when replacing the ignition lock?

I've got a mate whos a locksmith and he repaired mine, said it was easy so shouldn't cost much.

i thought the barrels cant be opened to fit a new cover flap, but easily changed for a replacement one.

I agree with Butner. I had the same problem and bought 3 door locks on eBay for $50. Then the locksmith charged me $25 a lock to match my existing ones. It's cheaper to find a secondhand complete set.[/quote]

I paid 120 for a lock and key set from ford in the EA, which uses the same bloody keys. You need a paper clip and the key to get the ignition barrel out, there is a small round hole there you push in on that with the paperclip and pull the barrel out with the key. That is, of course if ford still have the parts

I was talking to a locksmith yesterday and he said he used to sell the cover plates for the EB-ED door locks and said that some locksmiths may still have them. I just wish that the cover plates could be removed from existing locks.
