Guys,
Got my Ex. Copper booked for gas conversion;will I need different plugs and leads, or any other engine mod. to have it on gas? It's no major but one lead at the mo has burnt and cracked after resting on the extractors, have taped it up but it will need replacing either way.
Regards,
Gary.

you needa run the XR6/Tickford spec spark plugs.
so long as your leads are in good condition they'll be fine.

Tickford spec plugs = one heat range cooler than non XR. They will indeed do the trick.

And yes.. leads should be replaced if the insulation has given up the ghost. Wouldnt happen to be #4 would it (driver side, closest to firewall)

Thx folks,
Yeah, I reckon the plugs are Tickford spec, fitted at 100k service, by Stillwell Ford in Adelaide.
Certainly is the burnt lead #4 drivers side, closest to the firewall.
Since I've got to renew the burnt lead, what brand are you fella's replacing them with?
Regards,
Gary.

Lol, that's a memory test!!

I was using champion, they were great - but fell victim to the #4 exhaust manifold.

Now... i think ive got bosch? Black/yellow. Nice and solid.

Get some of the little clips that hold the leads together and rig it up so the #4 lead isnt flapping onto the header.

Would tickford spec plugs only come from ford? Or would global sell them as well perhaps.

putting some new plugs in now and my Bosch leads are falling apart. you pull them out and the metal plug retainer stays on the plug.. Anyone recommend a decent set of leads?

I wouldn't get anything genuine that the aftermarket supplies, especially for the 5.0L. Try asking for a set of genuine leads, dizzy cap and rotor button and then reply here with the cost. V8 stuff is alot more expensive than dime'o'dozen 6cyl parts, thats for sure!!
