Hi Guys
Chasing some really decent speakers without taking out another loan. I did have Pioneer TS-C1625's and not what i was after. After something that can take some bass, and the power to drive it. I have a Repsonse 4 x 100w RMS amp that i would be running it them through. What would you guys recommend for some good all round front speakers? Thanks Ben |

Try Alpine Type-R's. They are meant to be good components for the front...but not sure on price of them though.
If you want you can upgrade to the more powerful Pioneer components...the yellow ones, can't remember the exact model on top of my head. They seem to give some good sound. Ummm I'll let someone else give more options. phong =P~

I'd recommend....
Boston Acoustics SX60 splits (retail at $349, but can be had cheaper) Or Hertz HSK-165 splits (retail for $379, again can be gotten cheaper) Or Hertz HCX-165 coaxials (rrp $229) (I'm personally a fan of Hertz gear) Let me know if you want a good supplier.

FHRX Studios (Sydney based, official distributor).
Call Marty Price. http://www.fhrxstudios.com/ I don't work for them or get any kickbacks, they've just been really good service wise, and supports the car audio scene. Plus they sell the really good stuff.

pioneer splits are pretty nice, but i agree with data mine, the hertz HSK165's are really nice speakers for the price....should easily be able to get them for $300, i did off a local place
alpines are pretty good if you want loud music but i dont think theyre as nice sounding SQ wise...sound pretty good playing the techno in my mates car though

I agree with data mine, however dont bother with the coaxials.
The Hertz speakers sound very, very nice. Dont even look at JBL/MTX/Jaycar, 100rms will ensure a short lifetime. From the JL's that I've heard, I'm not a fan. Subs, yeh theyre great, but their speakers arent the best for the $. Alpines are generally a bit on the harsh side, mainly the tweeters becuase they are a bit bright, but if you like the mid you can overcome this. I've got some Infinity splits, which are rated at 90rms, and go f#king well off only 60rms. they hit hard, and are very clear, and play down to 60hz (which is where the HPF is set) quite easily. Might be a bit of a pain to find them though. |
