hi guys,I am about to put twin turbos on my efi 4.1,but have run into a problem.the twins will sit in the area where the air box currently lives.
Each turbo will have it's own inlet pipe and pod filter.My problem is how and where to move/modify/replace the factory airflow meter which forms part of the original airbox lid? I hadn't allowed for this in my budget,so could anyone help me out with some desperately needed advice/wisdom/suggestions?

well id piss it off and use a map sensor instead. as u would be running a after market ecu right

yea, theres no way in hell a stock ECU will handle boost happily, if at all
if you're set on keeping the original kinda gear, try a VN airbox, it's supposedly a perfect match for the battery tray in XF's

Yep, dont bother with the EEC unless your going to remap it...
VN air box is what I used for mine, works well |

turbo's are setup to run 5psi with everything standard except the feul reg,exhaust and intake piping.
is their no way of keeping the 2 pod filters? If I go the vn(YUK!!)airbox and run a "Y" pipe out to the twins,will this allow enough airflow and how hard would it be to wire in the different meter to the stock loom?

Didn't want too spend too much as this is just to get me on the road.I have plans for a 350kw AU 4L TT to go in next year.

mod the airbox to fit the stock AFM, but as i said, you'll most probably be able to use a different AFM/MAP sensor cos theres no way in hell you'll get an XF's EFI ECU to live with boost without a s**t of work

Bigger injectors are needed for anything over 2psi @3000rpm, and then you need to get the ecc remapped to suit the injs.
What have you done to the fuel reg? |

Not necessarily true, one of the members on ff has managed to run 5-6psi safely on stock ecu and injectors with a larger fuel pump and a 2:1 fpr. {DESCRIPTION}

Sure you can push the fuel pressure up, but once an injector is hitting 100% duty cycle it will start to go into pusle problems. Yes it works but its far from accurate fuel metering and is VERY frowned upon in serious turbo circles.
I did this years ago with a factory turbo car I owed and I was happy I could boost to 18psi, but the mixtures were only good on full throttle... and the injectors died after a few months. Dont get me wrong, theres nothing wrong with experimenting with what the EEC and injs can do... just dont expect too much |
