Thanks fellas. So where exactly are the airbags? are they in the seatbelt pillar plastic cover? in the top of the side pillar where it meets the roof?

My XT has side airbags

There is a tab on the side of teh seat that says airbag. I think there is also a sticker near the door latch.

Mine has them (04 BA Mk1) , there in the sides of the seat, so no seat covers!!

well you can but they have to be ones that allow for the airbags to go off without hindering the performance, which just so happen to be very hard to find, but then why would you want seatcovers, unless your into playboy bunnies etc :o

side airbags arent standard on XR's are they are not a "higher class" than futuras. The range splits and goes Either Futura or XR for very similar money.
IE. BFII XR6 6 speed auto RRP $39990 +ORC
BFII Futura 6 speed auto RRP $40790 +ORC
Side airbags are std only on
Futura, Fairmont, and Fairmont Ghia.
They are a $600 option on XT, and on XR Variants.

Note im talking BFII here, BA was very similar but there may be slight differences

THEY ARE AN OPTION!
unless you buy a fairmont, futura, Ghia or LTD

XR and XT is an option!
