my drive belt / idlers seem to make a squeak come rumble sort of noise some times its quite intermitent are the ildler bearings a common sort of thing to replace ....any ideas on the noise and what to do

If its squeeking check your belt. Tension/belt grip spray. If it whines or whirrs its probably the idler pulleys. Not too expensive, change them yourself. Get the aftermarket steel ones. the stock ones are plastic crap.

were do ya get the steel ones from ? over here in nz we dont have a great deal of choice damn it ............. i had a look the plastic ones are crappy all rite i have noticed that some times when i turn the car off you hear a kind of groan/squeak just as the engine stopps tuning over must be a sign that the idlers are stuffed

I think you are stuck with the plastic ones ( they outlast the bearing anyway). I will give you a tip, the extra idler in the VCT is the same as the normal idler on the tensioner. Don't get talked into buying the one spares will want to sell you (even if they can find it in the parts list) as it is twice the price.

In your case 2 idlers and one tensioner pulley.

is there 3 ? i thought there was one for the vct on for the tensioner and thats all have i missed one

There are two on the tensioner, one ribbed and one flat.
