Ok.... T70 on a EB 5LT.. when i first bolt the turbo up, prime the turbo and then start the engine, turbo spins very freely. But after a couple of minutes, turbo slows down to a complete stop and only spins once throttle is applied. Cooler piping isnt connected yet, wastegate is closed... I took the oil line off to make sure i had oil and when i fired it up it shot a powerful stream of oil across the shed... im thinking too much oil is flowing through the turbo? How do i slow it down / restrict it?

hell no! it cost me a small fortune to get the line i have made up! I heard you could get a small piece of metal, drill a certain size hole in it and fit it in between the line and turbo to restrict? But im not sure of what size hole?

How do i slow it down / restrict it? adjustable valve or a in line restrictor for volume, pressure relief valve for high pressure.

1.5 mm restrictor ..
Why though???

to my knowledge, if you have too much oil pressure into a turbo like that, they just leak oil past the seals, and it comes out the exhaust pipe, but i cant imagine it would stop it spinning.. you need to measure the volume of oil per minute coming out the hose, it should be about 1.8-2.4l/min from memory

I would check for caking of the oil on the turbo shaft. Although if the turbo is water cooled then oil caking is unlikely to hapen.
Might have to take it to a professional in the end. |

Turbo is oil cooled only...i just find it weird that when the first few times after i put the engine back in when the turbo was brand new, it span up hard on idle but now it barely spins?

Wouldn't want to restrict oil to much. he did mentioned cooler pipe wasn't connected... siezed?!?!?

shaft bearing should have as much oil as possible, they have bigger clearances ...
Require heaps of oil for cooling... Check that comp / turbine wheels are not touching housings...

How well/free does it spin if you poke your finger in and spin it?
What sort of T70 we looking at here? Ebay cheapy or big brand name? Pretty common for the cheapies to die fast |

Its a masterpower (brazilian)...i went with them coz a lot of the mustang guys in the states get great results with them. Turbine spins easily by hand...

They are pretty good for the $$
Seems odd then, maybe somethings blocking airflow. My T4 on the old ED would spin on start up then slowing come to a stop at idle, you could give it little blips on the throttle and it wouldnt move too much. MAybe the bearings have just tightened up a bit now that its got some heat into it |

Your oil drain could be the problem too, make sure its not blocked and of large enough diameter
