Headers in flameproof.. reasonable job, looks a little different after they bake.
Rocker cover in engine enamel.. can turn out real nice and glossy. Headers may look a little used after only a few months, but look alright and tidy still. Can't complain for either, at only about $15 bux a can. VHT or Septone. |

if you use cheap paint on hings that get ral hot its just going to burn off and burn your car to the ground.
well maybe not to the ground but there is heat proof paints for headers and brake calipers for that reason. your rocker cover should be fine with good preperation. there are plenty of people here who have painted all sorts of things under the bonnet. even manifolds and fuel rails

You can also paint your radiator surge tank, window washer reservoir, airbox & intake pipe. They brighten the engine bay up a bit. I'd suggest using plastic primer followed by a few coats of engine enamel. Some of the chaps here paint the reservoirs & rocker cover in matching colours. The block is too hard to paint with the inlet & exhaust manifolds in place. If you like chrome, you can start adding a few bits here and there.

No dude, spray painting is fine. I wouldn't use anything less.. Like another guy said, good clean preparation, and a rub back assists. Only thing is the header paint will appear a little thinner after baking. Also when applying, dust it on.. thin coats are generally the way to start out.

Hi
Check the engine painting on the website below. I hope JR doesn't mind but I will be doing up my Blueprint XR6 almost identical to his. http://users.bigpond.net.au/BA_Falcon_XR6/ Like you, I'm not sure which of the engine bay parts need normal paint vs engine paint vs high temp paint. I don't even know if its possible to get matching high temp paint in specific colours like Blueprint.
