Oh, look another current project, an engine transplant, from I6 to 351C in a Ford. Its not finished yet though. Will that do??? I had just finished making the fuel lines.

Here is a point....OK, ..when you want to glue something to something that is really smooth, you rough it up so it will stick, right???, so if you don't rough it up, it won't stick very well, right???,...The same goes for carbon biuld up, eh? The carbon finds it hard to stick to a mirror, eh? Have a look at a good quality spray gun, they have a really nice polished finish, yes???, so the paint will come off easy when you wash it up in gunwash, eh? How's that, did I explain it well enough???

Isn't it more to do with atomization of the fuel??? or is that more in the ports?? By the way im not trying to be a smartass, so there's no need to get all high and mighty.

Its to do with fuel atomisation, air speed and boundary layers. I'll dig up all of the maths equations and post em up when I got time, maybe this weekend. See how we go if this thread is still aliv and hasn't turned to s**t which I can see it happening.

I'm not being a smart ar5e, just puting in such a way that you get the gist of it. OK, did you understand it, yes or no??? It's an old trick that is still relivant today.

Yes i do understand where you are coming from , but the question remains, isn't it better to have some roughness to help atomization? The way i see it , an efficient and well built engine would have minimal carbon build up anyway??

The smoothness of the chamber isn't going to effect the atomization of the fuel by very much. All engines get a biuld up. Fuel has carbon in it, plus other chemicals. To get good atomization comes from good injector spray patterns, position of the injectors, usually about 100mm from the inlet valve, shape of the back of the inlet valve, port shape, even piston shape, also the velocity of the incomiing air, so then the manifold comes into it too.
