very easy, drop the coolant, carefully punch them in, remove them with multi-grips, clean the holes, replace with new ones and use stag or form-a-gasket (hardening type) .. strongly advise to replace all welsh plugs.

Ditto the above. If you've got extractors, it will be easy. But if you've got the original manifold on and can't get access with a drift & hammer, it's got to come off. Make sure you don't knock them inside the block. Replacements should be brass for longevity. I use a socket that fits nicely inside the welsh plug and tap it lightly. Try to get them started at about 90 degrees to the block.

Theres 8 welsh plugs all up, all 40mm. 5 on the exhaust side, 1 at reat of the block ( remove tranny and flexpate/flywheel and backing plate ), and 2 on the inlet manifold side. To do these, the in man and dizzy have to come off to do them. I use Loctite 272 to fit the welsh plugs, sets in about 5 mins. Lightly sand the brass welsh plugs first to take off the smooth finish on the sealing surface.

Thanks guys, is it possible as they are corroded to screw a screw in and pull it out. Is loctite a suitable sealant for the brass plugs? i have bought a set for the side but all look good except to of them so i was just gonna change them till i get the hang of it. Cheers

Loctite suitable??? Sh!t yeah, if you spill some on your fingers and hold the brass welsh plug, give it about 45 secs, and it starts to stick like supa-glue. Used it for years and no probs.
