Check your ignition switch first a few people on here have had same problems it seems to be a common fault with the ef/el falcons.

I have been having this problem for about two years but I am concerned that lately I have to punch it so hard I might break something. I've found out I can bridge two red & blue wires to bypass this BCM gadget. Is that going to work do you reckon? Also, What does BCM stand for?
Thanks heaps

BCM stands for body control module. Also would check battery and starter. Starter s/h shouldnt cost more than $50-.
