I can't resist this post:

My old 1975 FJ45 land cruiser was originally a west Australian mining crew truck, converted into a duel cab, the guy I got it off worked for the mine as an engineer and he bought with 1.5mil on it in the late 80's, he the put another 1.2mil on it (he lived in NSW and worked in WA still plus traveled around Aus a number of times) and I got it around 96 with 2.7mil (had all the original log books) I put another 200k on it so when I sold it it had a grand total of 2.9mil. And I still got $4500 for it.

It still had the original engine but had two rebuilds and a lot of parts replaced in it's time but was still going strong with 2.9mil.

(edit)
Couple more stats:

had a 4.2l petrol on LPG
350 holly carby
Perry extractors and 3" exhaust system
weighed in at 3.5t
You could see the road through the floor in the back...

Toyota's do last forever
(/edit)

As for falcons, XF fairlane wagon (one of 7 made) 820k and a tonne of rust. I ended up giving it away.

Respect,

Our 1975 FJ 40 SWB has gone around once and is back on 625000 for a total of 1.6million on the original motor and box i think.

4.2L Petrol
350 Holley
Extractors

I have 1993 EB2 gli, with over 400k's on the clock. It still goes well, really well- timing cover pisses oil (fix will kero and silicone every 6 months)
Funny thing it it keeps up well and truely with BA NA XR-S's, AND only a few weeks ago, got a vt ser1 ss 5.0, had him by 2 lengths to 100'ks!

But I have a sneaking suspicion that its the smoke that come out the back of it that blinds them, making them not be able to keep up *lol*
1 litre of oil every 3-4 months!!! But hey shes goes, dont tap and make a racket and sounds great!! (redback, no centre resi-no cat, and straight through rear.)

I was also just thinking how ironical it is that these EF cabs do over 1 mil kms and stuff and i blew a head gasket and a motor within 500km of oneanother at 160,000km. Goes to show that if ya take care of the car it will serve you well.

End of the day i reckon its the combination of how u treat the car and a bit of luck!

My neighbour is tighter than a nuns nasty and all he buys is clagged out s**t ex cabs! Every second day he is under the bonnet or under the car fixing something on it!

But i have also seen the side where people buy them and they never have to do anything to them!

As for what i have seen, seen the usual million km cabs and that! Our old van here at home ( its a mitsubishi) is still putting along on 605000km

Was just in a Vx commodore taxi with 478 thousand k's.

Ran nice and smooth, and i discussed with the driver how they are uncommon, he said it's on lease and he just gets what he's given, tried to have a coherent conversation but was pretty drunk.

Lucky for him he got a nice tip, and I wasn't any trouble.

my dad has been running cabs for the past 20 odd years, seen plenty clock over and then some! years back we had an old XF i think it was that was up to 800,000 2nd time round and the odometer stopped working a good while before we gave it up.....built to last indeed!

he also sold an EL a few years back with 1.5 on it to a young family friend as a paddock basher, for the reasonable price of.....$1.....he then found $3 under the seat and drove it into a tree, but at least he made a profit
