Also if my local wrecker's anything to go by then I'm not the only one here who thinks that. The clutch used between the boxes seems to be the weaker part....... but all in all, for everyday mild power applications i wouldnt deter anyone from using the ea box. |

No probably not, however if the price between the 2 is marginal, EB2 + FTW

It says further downn that because of the greater difference between 1st and 2nd gear ratio the EA boxes are more likely to get injured...but if you don't thrash it me thinks it would be fine.

ppl stop putting s**t on EA's, aint nothing wrong with them.
With regards to G/B's the only issue is the flywheel and clutch is different, the EA-ED use a 3 bolt clutch and the EF onwards use a 6 bolt clutch which is larger than the earlier models with a larger flywheel to match. by all means get an ea box dude but get whatever has the least amount of K's on it, and be mindful of the clutch/flywheel differences. |

It's actually EA-EB1 that have the 3 bolt pressure plate, and they don't have a reverse lockout, but that's debatable too. I have a mate with an EA Turbo, he bought my old EA and chucked the 5 speed conversion in his, 200 rwkw and he can dump the clutch from a standstill in second gear no problems at all and it will sit there smoking 'em up. The clutch was a good quality Excedy standard one and it holds up fine. So even the clutch issue is overated IMHO, EA ones are fine so long as the pivot point is set correctly. Cheap EA 5 speed conversions FTW!! |
