I use my finger nails and a screwdriver.
But then again... most people chew their nails nowadays. I replaced most of mine with the newer style with no plastic screw. Oh wait a minute.. those ones.. I use large long nose pliers and get under them. or grasp the product its holding from either side and yank the f**k.

Hold the tip of your finger on the outside, then using a Phillips screwdriver, lightly apply pressure and then undo it till comes up a bit, then get your side cutters and grab ( not cut ), the screw bit and pull it out.
