Gday,
I have ordered some good old convo pros and yokohama Y352s for my XB sedan. The rims that we ordered for the rear are 8.5" with a 3 3/8 backspace and 11mm offset and the tyres are 265. I wasnt too worried, but I saw a sedan today with 265s and the tyres touched the guard. I dont know the specs of the rims they were on. Does anyone think I will have any trouble? Cheers, Matt

I remember 10" rims fitted under the hardtop's rear, but don't know on the sedans. I have made custom 10 X 15's to fit under an HJ ute rear. It was fitted with 255/60R15 Y352's, then when they wore out, 275/60R15's went on.

Here is a pic of 265/70R15's on the rear of an XF ute, using EF rims. I can't remember if the rims were 6.0", 6.5" or 7.0".

265's will fit, it all depends on the offset of the rim. Can't remember what offset for an 8 inch rim was needed.

I went into the shop today and they said when they come in they will put some rubber on one for me to try out. If it doesnt fit they will order something better suited. Kind of a hit and miss affair.

I used to have deep dish 8 inch 12 slotters and the biggest tyre I could fit was 245's on my sedan

with the right offsets you can easily fit 285's both front and rear, although you have to roll or remove the lip on the rear.
with slightly pumped guards you can go even further but unfortunatly a coupe will always fit more, 345's on the back of a coupe look hot.

The guards have already had the lip rolled so hopefully that will be enough.
It would be nice to have a coupe, Id like to see a set of 345s tucked under the back. Does anyone know if a XY style diff is shorter and if it would fit ok on an XB? Just after a 9" and if it would work I might as well do it rather than pumping the guards.

Good luck trying to find one...lol....especially a 9".

i had 14" 12 slotter 10" rims on the back of my old eb they were 265 ,traction was not a problem, i think the front were 245 but never kept them on cos at full lock the tyre was just off touching s**t so i thought better to be safe than sorry

Ok, got the wheels home tonight and they dont fit. Theres pleanty of room behind them but they are about level with the guard and only allow 1" of travel.
So a 3 3/8" backspace, 11mm offset 8.5" rim, running Yokohama Y352 tires wont fit on an XB sedan without mods. I talked to my mechanic about it and we will be getting a 9" and shortening the axels and housing so that they fit easily. Hopefully we can set it up to run 295s. Only thing I can see that may be a bit tricky is that the leaf springs currently sit pretty much hard up against the brakes so if we move them in, the springs will have to move in 2. They only need to come in about an inch or so.

I have an XB ute with 265s on the back. to fit them, using an XD 9 inch, we had to pump the quarters about 1 inch to gain clearance. We also had to trim the inside sheet metal. Hope you have a successful fit cos big feet look sick!

XD's never had 9" diffs. The XC was the last model to be fitted with them.

Well, I just asked the guy that owned the XD whose diff i mentioned. Having unbolted the diff from the xd personally and bashing my head and knuckles several times underneath it, I assumed that thats where it originated. He said that diff actually came out of an XB Hardtop but he is positive that some xds did come with 9 bangers from the factory and knows of at least one guy that bought one new. Anyway, go the Fords!!
