Just got a tomtom ONE XL, and after 2 weeks of it mounting it on the window i got sick of it, so i designed my own bracket for it.
Started off making a new ball to mount the bracket to. attached to bolt, and welded in place. then used bench grinder to shape the two bolts into a ball. Then cut some stainless steel and placed a bend into so that it is directed towards the driver. bolt and bracket Removed vents and drilled holes to mount bracket Finished product!!!! What do you think? |

Looks very good..
I would probably paint the bracket and the bolt to make it look a bit more standard. But looks great. |

i think you need a shortened gear stick...
also, with the wire running out of the dash, couldnt you add that to your bracket |

Looks pretty good.
You could modify your power cable to plug into a speaker jack fitted to the bezel housing the demister/power antenna switches. Then the power lines can go to anywhere there is ignition 12v and earth - although you should put another male/female in the line to separate it if you pull the instrument surround out. 2 sets of male/female speaker jacks from an electronics shop, and that's it.

Pretty much so - for removing the GPS when you leave the car, and for the wiring behind the instrument surround when you need to remove it as well.

Yes! As ray said run 2 plugs,
Be carefull with your 3.5mm mono/stereo plugs with power, as the contacts are close and are not designed to transfer current, in most cases the contacts short out with insertion. DC power sockets are better, but require more complex install, well not really, just a hole and some glue.

Yeah, Andrew's got the better idea - if you can go the smally 12v male/female DC power connectors, all the better.
Probably best to go to Jaycar and tell them what you want to do - they have a better range of bits and pieces to suit than most other electronics shops I've seen.
