Hi there i made one of the shift kits that is outline on thge forumn using a 18ohm and 5.6ohm resistors but what i want to know is there different size resistors that will give me a harder shift and which ones to increase or decrease. Thanks!

i remember reading in a thread somewhere that you can change one of the resistors with a variable one that gives you a variable shift kit...cant remember which one though

Hi.
I made mine with a switch to allow me two options. I used an 18ohm and 22ohm. I find that the 18ohm is much the same as the standard shifts, and the 22ohm is too firm. I will be sourcing a 20ohm to replace the 18ohm resistor soon. I would suggest getting the 20ohm or if it is not available, you could use two 10ohms in series. Regards BenJ

My understanding is its the resistor that is put in series with the S5 solenoid that controls the firmness of the shift, the other resistor is to trick the ECU into not adjusting it back to compensate.
What I did was to just insert a 2.2 ohm and I think around 22ohm and leave it in there permanently (no switch installed) and I was happy with the compromise of shift firmness and the wet weather issue.

Just so there are no misunderstandings, there are different settings between EB/ED to EF/EL for the lesser resistor.
And I will also correct my previous post. The 18Ohm makes the shift harder and the 22Ohm makes it softer. I had it reversed. BenJ

Could someone explain to me what the different resistors do? because the 18ohm resistor makes shift firmer than 22 would mean that the less resitance increase shift firmness which would mean no resisence or standard makes firmer shift also what does the lesser resistor do? do they have to be change together?? am i missing something.
What resistors could i put in to give me a real firm shift not worrying about wet weather etc. Thanks!
