ok, goes like this:
was a real C*** of a day today, 40 degrees, 70km/h winds and rain for some of it. i was driving to a mates place, from a cold start, he lives about 5km from me, up some fairly hilly winding roads. i drove up one particular hill about 200m long, into the wind, and the gauge went from nearly half (it got there reallly quick) to the top of the temp guage (EA GL cluster) in this short hill. got to my mates place, shut the car off, opened the bonnet and i reckon i coudve char grilled a steak on the rocker cover :S. it had a new water pump 6 months ago, and a new thermostat etc. but the clutch fan does not work at all, like you can stick your hand in it and stop it lol. im thinking maybe i have a blocked hose somewhere? or thermostat is f**k? can any of you guys shed some light on this situation? cheers fellas.

if the clutch fan doesnt work --> then that'd be a dead giveaway as to why your car is getting hot.
cars make lots of heat going up hills. check your coolant level to make sure there are no leaks. the radiator might be partially blocked but i'd fix the clutch fan first (perfect time to go thermo fans!)

hi
yes change your fan asap..if you say that you think your fan is not to good change it.. and it couldnt hurt to change your thermostat aswell.. there are a few posts poping up about cars running hot today!. so guys look after your cooling systems this is the time of the year when our cars need it the most...and we dont want our head gaskets letting go.. |

well if the fan isn't working what would you expect.
change it and you'll notice a big difference.

yes take off the BELT DRIVEN FAN and CONVERT to THERMO fans they are good, do what others sugested but when you fill up the radiator check it hasnt got bubbles in it, that means a problem with the head/gasket
