My timing chain snapped while taking the car for a test drive. (After i got it all working)
Now the thing is, im wondering if i have bent any valves when the chain snapped? Is there any way to check this problem? What could of caused this problem? Over tighten the chain tensioner..?

way to check is replace the chain then do a compression test
over tight chain can cause it to snap

did it snap at a few revs? or did it fowl and seize?
Remove the rocker cover and have a look, if the chains together and only mangled, you may be safe, when my chain broke i was lucky, didn't even jump a tooth on the timing, just ate everything in front of the block. Best to remove the donk, then you can collect all the s**t thats in the sump. Remove the rocker gear BEFORE you rotate/crank the engine, this way you can at least push each valve down with your palm and turn the crank so the valves don't kiss the pistons while doing so. Dropped chain guide would be a good chance of chain failure, also the little bolts holding the idler gear can come loose and fall into the gears. Do the old' "I hope its ok, and gonna be cheap" and "I hope it f**k so I can Do this, and this and this" :) g'luck

Well it reved it to 4000rpm and then backed off. After i backed off and started to brake is when i notice the engine stoped..
I did take the rocker cover off.. thats when i saw that the chain snapped.. Also I did turn the engine over a couple of times though after this happen.. wasnt sure what was the problem... Would i be able to get away with not taking the engine out?

yup, you have to lower the sump, or lift the engine.

Would it be alright to lower the sump like how to take off the timing cover or has to completely come off to get the bits and peaces out?

Im not sure if the valves hit the piston..
So, if i replace the timing chain, would be able to leave the timing cover out and be able to start the engine so i can do a compression test to see if any of the valves have hit the pistion? Would this be possible??
