Hey, just a quick question,

Was driving to work today was a hot day and i had the aircon on, the temp gauge was sitting on the r in normal when all of the sudden i hear a beep and i realise the oil pressure gauge has dropped to zero!

I was at a set of lights so i moved off to find a park and as i did i noticed that when i was accelerating the gauge would move up and as i slowed down/stopped it would drop back to zero

Any thoughts as to whats going on here?

Thanks guys.

ELs are known to have a dodgy earth that can affect the gauge reading.
I think others have solved it by upgrading/adding an extra earth to the block.
The oil pressure would have been a tad lower then normal due to the heat, but probably not as bad as the gauge was making out!

As a matter of interest, what is the normal reading for the
Oil Pressure, say at 100km/h, 2200 rpm...??

The gauge on my EB numbers 0 to 7, which I assume is
pretty similar to an EL.

I've had exactly as you've descibed in my EF twice. Zero pressure then beeps. Other than that it always goes down low when there is a big power load on the car.

my oil pressure doesnt get "beeping" low. but it gets damn low... on IDLE.

and then with revs, it goes back up to a good pressure.

i was told this was due to a stuffed oil pump.

sounds like the exactly same symptoms as my oil pressure... most likely a stuffed/worn out "oil pressure sender unit"...

Hey man, I've been curious as to what mine's supposed to be as well.

EA S driving 100km/h @ 1800rpm (manual) the oil pressure is sitting around 2 or a c#nt hair under.

Normal driving it likes to move around 1.5 - 3.5, and only get's up to about 4 if I'm giving it some.

My EA S sits halfway when cold, and drops down to 1/4 when hot.

Seems like mine is pretty well the same, 3 when cold and about 2
when hot, at 100 clicks.

check your sender and the connection first. saves your pulling the motor apart.
